My Own Experiences

Meet JAE a Certified Labor Doula and Trained Postpartum Doula

Hi, I'm Jerrica Wynn, the founder, and owner of Jae Cares Doula Services, call me Jae.

The first birth I attended was with my best friend when I was 14 in (year). After begging to be her godmother, my mother said I had to go to the birth to truly understand that responsibility and the impact of this new life. I'm sure there was a small secret hope I would be freaked out by the birth. We drove back and forth from the hospital for days as my friend was told "No, it's too soon" and "You're not really in labor" in the small town in (town name) Georgia.

Late that Sunday night, as we drifted into the early hours of the morning, I called my mother to ask about school the next day. My mother, with a plan I didn't even see yet, told me she would call me out of school in the morning and I was to stay at the hospital. When that beautiful baby girl was born, her father almost passed out, but I was beaming with happiness. I was there to comfort her and support her and it just felt right. Coming home that day, my mother expected me to be traumatized and scared, instead, I felt nothing but awe and admiration for women and their bodies.

It wasn't until years later that I discovered this was my true calling. Attending births of friends and family without knowing I was doing birth work, I received a reading telling me I needed to use my hands and gifts to help people. Almost immediately, I knew I needed to be in this area but still didn't know how to get more involved.

While I didn't immediately jump into the world of being a doula. I did look for opportunities that would follow my prophecy. I started a baby cuddling program for sick and addicted newborns. A program designed to provide physical comfort to babies to reduce their pain levels and encourage healing. Not too long after that I was approached by the hospital staff about doing their doula program. Even though it had a three to five-year waitlist I knew I had to sign up. I even tried talking myself out of it, only to have friend who I helped during birth remind me what my purpose was. I began taking doula classes/courses and attending births left and right. Every birth made me fall more in love with pregnancy, babies, and supporting women.

Now, with over 40+ official Jae Cares births in attendance by the end of 2022, I have been supporting parents through many different experiences around Iowa. From paid to pro-bono, I've provided families throughout the state with a high standard of care and still beam as I did all those years ago.

I can't wait to experience this new life coming earthside with you and your family. Aiding positive reinforcement and fostering evidence-based practices to give you the best birth experience possible!
